Create your first video grid
Build your first video grid with a feed, a saved YT Sheet profile and a shortcode.
YT Sheet Grid can build a grid from a Feed Source, a saved Profile and a shortcode. For this first example, use a small CSV or JSON feed with a public URL and video thumbnails you have permission to show.
Prepare the feed
At minimum, provide a title and a video URL for each item. A thumbnail URL makes the result easier to recognize. For example, a JSON array may contain objects with title, url and thumb fields. The source must be reachable by the WordPress server over HTTP or HTTPS. Localhost and private network URLs are blocked for source fetching.
Create and build a source
- Open YT Sheet → Add New Source and give the source a recognizable title.
- Choose Feed Source under Source type. Enter the public Feed URL or upload an allowed CSV/JSON file with the supplied picker. Choose JSON, CSV or Auto-detect under Format.
- Select Publish before trying to build the source. The build button is disabled for a draft.
- Select Build now. Check that the cache becomes Fresh and that the item count matches your feed. If you change the URL later, select Update before Rebuild.
Create a profile and place the grid
- Open YT Sheet → Add New Profile. Give it a clear title.
- In Profile Settings → Source, choose My Source and select the Feed Source you built. Publish the profile.
- Open YT Sheet → All Profiles and copy the profile shortcode, for example
[yt-sheet profile="my-grid"]. Place it in a WordPress Shortcode block on a page and publish that page. - Open the page and compare its cards with the source item count. If it is empty, check that the source is published and built, the profile is published, and the feed URL is accessible.
The Shortcode Generator can help construct a custom shortcode without Elementor. A profile shortcode is the shortest path when you want to reuse the same saved source and layout.
