Import & export

MK Studio import and export moves selected theme and plugin settings between WordPress sites in a JSON package.

Move selected settings from one MK site to another with a JSON package. The combined panel lives under MK Studio → Import / Export.

Export settings

  1. Select the components to include: MK Theme, MovieKit and, if installed, YT Sheet.
  2. Decide whether to include API credentials. This checkbox is off by default. A file that contains keys must be handled as a secret.
  3. Download the JSON package and store it somewhere private.

Import settings

  1. Back up the destination WordPress site.
  2. Choose the JSON file and click Review import file. The review shows what is present; it does not apply changes.
  3. Select which available components and credentials to apply, then confirm the import.
  4. Open the affected settings screens and check the resulting site. MK Studio keeps a downloadable copy of settings from immediately before the import.

What the package does not move

The combined package is a settings transfer. It does not transfer posts, movie records, uploads, installed fonts or other media. YT Sheet sources, profiles and video overrides are also outside this format. Media and menu references in theme settings reconnect only when matching objects already exist on the destination.

For a complete server migration, move the WordPress database and media with a full site backup as well as the MK settings package. Verify the site on the destination before retiring the original.
