Supported video sources and Iframely

MK Theme video sources can use recognized URLs or supported embed code, with Iframely as an additional embedding option.

Location: edit a MovieKit movie → MK Movie Options. Choose a source below, enter it in the indicated field, update the movie and test its public page. These instructions cover MK Theme movie players and the Video First homepage section. YT Sheet sources and grids have their own source documentation.

Video URLs recognized directly by MK Theme

Paste one of these URL formats into Watch / Video URL. The theme converts recognized formats into a player URL. The placeholders below describe the format; replace them with the real video identifier.

Direct URL recognition does not guarantee playback. Private videos, embedding restrictions, account requirements, regional limits and removed media can prevent a player from working. Check Video provides provider checks for YouTube and Vimeo; the other sources require a playback test on the public page.

Other iframe players and external links

If a provider supplies an iframe, copy its complete <iframe src="…"></iframe> into Embed Code. Keep a real HTTPS src; an iframe using only data-src or JavaScript initialization is not sufficient. Save and test Inline or Modal mode. The provider must allow your site to embed that content.

A URL outside the recognized formats becomes an external link. This includes ordinary links to other social platforms and direct MP4 URLs: the movie URL resolver does not automatically create a native HTML5 video player. Choose External link to send visitors to the source, or obtain a compatible iframe from the provider or Iframely.

Iframely: what “1900+ platforms” means

Iframely advertises rich media from over 1,900 publishers. That includes video as well as audio, social posts, maps, documents and other media. The coverage belongs to Iframely’s service; it does not mean MK Theme directly recognizes every original platform URL. See the official supported publishers list.

MK Theme currently accepts a generated Iframely iframe URL or iframe element. It does not call the Iframely API to convert an arbitrary publisher link, and this workflow has no MK Studio field for an Iframely API key. An ordinary TikTok or Instagram link in Watch / Video URL therefore opens externally unless you first obtain its Iframely iframe.

Add an Iframely source step by step

1. Copy the original public media URL from its publisher.
2. Use Iframely’s URL checker or your Iframely account to generate an embed. Confirm that the result is the intended player rather than a summary card. Account settings, allowed media types and service access can affect the result.
3. Obtain a hosted iframe with an actual src. For an API-based workflow, Iframely documents iframe=1 to request hosted iframe delivery. Copy the resulting iframe or its src; do not paste the API JSON endpoint as a video URL. See Iframely delivery parameters.
4. URL method: paste the exact generated iframe src into Watch / Video URL and leave Embed Code empty. MK Theme recognizes the hosted domains listed above. A custom Iframely CDN domain is not detected automatically; use the iframe method for that domain.
5. Iframe method: paste only the generated <iframe …></iframe> element into Embed Code. Leave Watch / Video URL empty for this test. Do not paste a div/link/script bundle in place of the iframe.
6. Select Inline embed or Modal / lightbox, update the movie and test playback on desktop and mobile. Check the movie page and any Video First homepage section using it; the homepage section can override the opening mode.

An example of the URL shape is https://iframely.net/CONTENT_ID. It is a format example, not a working video URL. Use the exact URL Iframely generated for your content. Content IDs depend on Iframely’s plan and configuration; see Iframely Content IDs.

Scripts, sizing and service limits

Iframely’s full responsive delivery can require its embed.js helper, including for automatic height changes and some interactives. Even omit_script=1 does not remove that requirement for all features. See Iframely’s script delivery guide.

MK Movie Options removes script tags on save, and the movie player does not load Iframely’s helper automatically. A hosted iframe that works independently may display, but script-dependent features and responsive sizing are not guaranteed by this integration. If the generated code requires scripts, a separate developer integration is needed. Test portrait, audio and document embeds carefully: the movie hero is designed for video and does not automatically adopt every rich-media layout.

Iframely’s service access, domain settings and usage limits are separate from Framepress. Check your Iframely account and current plan terms. Its broad provider coverage does not bypass a publisher’s privacy or embedding restrictions.

CDN update: Iframely announced a move from cdn.iframe.ly to iframely.net in July 2026. MK Theme recognizes both hosted domains, plus iframe.ly. Use HTTPS and preserve the URL generated by Iframely. See the official migration announcement.

If the video does not open

1. Reopen the editor after saving and verify that the URL or iframe src remains intact.
2. Clear an unused dedicated source field or review Watch source priority; a higher-priority value may be selected instead.
3. Open the source directly and check whether it is public and permits embedding.
4. For Iframely, verify the generated iframe in Iframely first, then check its account/domain settings and script requirements.
5. Use External link when a source cannot be embedded. For YouTube and Vimeo, also follow Video availability.
